How loud is the 6mmbr

I know this is a dumb question, but compared to the 223 how loud is the 6br. 4x,6x louder?

Hi Danny,

I've never measured any sound with a meter or sound measuring device. I have a 223, 22 250 and 6mmBR. The 6 is definitely quieter than the 22 250. The 223 is an AR15 and I can hear alot of the action noise as the gun cycles. I seems the 6 is somewhat louder, but the difference between the 22 250 and the 6 is greater than the difference between the 223 and the 6. Also, in round numbers, the 223 uses 25 grains of varget vs 30 in the 6 vs 35 in the 22 250. In general more gunpowder should make more noise. In any case, none of these cartridges are big bangers, nothing like a 7mm Rem Mag, which I have heard at the range, but never fired. Hope this helps, Hanic

Yes that does help. The farms that I hunt on dont like a real big boom when I hunt coyotes and ground hogs. So I was just wondering if the farmers would mind or not. So it sounds like its just a step above from a 223 then.. I think that might be ok. Thanks for the help

Buy a silencer. Won't stop the sonic crack but will really help with the muzzle noise.

That would be nice.. but Michigan law states no silencers
