How has the current "situation" changed your life?

i’ve gone from traveling about 900 miles a week working directly with customers to working from home trying to school a 10 year old...a 13 year old and keep my 4 year old out of trouble. My wife is a pharmacist and has been working everyday for the last 2 weeks.

With the kids help, we cut down a huge pepper tree last week, bucked it up and stacked it. The house is in order and the kids are getting their work done while I try to support my customers from home. I’m fortunate...I can do most of what I need to do at home, on the computer.

Last night, my wife’s father was just admitted and is on a respirator. He is in his 70’s and survived Vietnam, and survived escaping Vietnam with his family on his rickety fishing boat. He has done much to take care of his own, and he is a stubborn old man, but the family is understandably worried. It is getting real now.

Ive been declared payable, but not workable, so the check roles in, but I dont work. Not a bad deal after being under paid and overworked for years! Otherwise, sticking my head in the sand. Bought a bunch of supplies to fix crap that has been ignored for years. Got shelves built, junk tossed, conduit into attic for new electric, working on fixing chimney and realized I need a BIG french drain in the lawn. Spending lots of time with family and thankful for years of homeschooling. It made us pretty self reliant and ready for this kind of stuff. Not adjusting to a lack of school related or government related services that are "missing" cause we never used them and didnt need them. Not missing sports cause I never watched or cared. Been going to church online, and even that is good. HAs caused my mega church to realize a little vulnerability and humility.
I am only concerned about my mom, who is in nursing care, but even then thankful for her Alzheimers...for the first time in her life she is actually threatened, but isnt anxious because she cant comprehend the threat. She spent her life the opposite...seldom really threatened, but always anxious. I am grateful that even in her loss of memory and cognitive ability, God is showing mercy to her.

Trying to keep my 18 year old twins home and away from people...they are invincible you know. I know others are in a lot worse state than we are.
And I finally got all my khornet and 17FB loaded, and 300 30 Carbine, moving on to the 243, 7 mag and 308...

I'm sorry to hear that.
This virus situation is odd. In some ways, it doesn’t impact life at all. Yet, in others, it turns life upside down.

E.g., I’m an introvert. I don’t mind being isolated. Give me a book, and I’ll make do. But, OTOH, to not be able to comfort my dad while he’s in hospice is heartbreaking.

One big change:
This forum stopped being my happy place. Just like everywhere else, it’s a bombardment of corona virus chatter.

Isn’t it easy enough to not read the threads that ruin your happiness?

If the temptation is just too great you can always click on thread tools at the top and select the “ignore thread” feature. Works like a charm!

Mark,

You missed Tommie's point. This forum was intended to support "accurate shooter" and there must be many more forums for the RED & BLUE die-hards to duke it out.

No, I didn’t miss the point. I truly don’t understand a person complaining about things they don’t have to read. I have used the ignore feature for threads and members many times. It really does work.

Well, actually, you did miss my point.

That you’re letting other people’s actions that are not within your control unnecessarily affect your enjoyment of the forum?

That’s what I took from your post at least. If that’s it, I really and truly don’t understand. If there was a deeper meaning please forgive me for missing your point. I was merely sharing my strategy for dealing with such issues. There are whole sections of the forum that I completely avoid because they don’t hold my interest. Same goes for threads.

I miss going to the gym :(. About 18 years ago, my wife and I in fully retired status, joined the Huntsville Hospital Wellness Center. For the first 10 years, we went 7 days a week when we happened to be in town; then, I tired of it a little and dropped off to 6 days a week. I'll admit that I've reduced my routines over the years, and as I have moved into my eighties, my heaviest workouts now seem to be limited to "panting":oops::oops:. Now it's closed. Possibly what I'm really missing though is all those active women, of various ages, shapes and sizes, all in their little Peter Pan tights, physically engaged on various gym equipment. My most common front view from one of the treadmills is a tight-hose-fitted, bouncing-Betty on an elliptical machine to my immediate front going strong; and with the overhead wall-mounted TV tuned to Fox News with audio in my headset. Yeah, I miss it.

OK Mark, I'll accept your reason and right to use the ignore feature. However, if the boss and the moderators of this forum continue to allow politics to become the primary discussion focus then instead of my spending my time on here to decide what to ignore I may just decide to ignore it all, log off and go read books. At 75 I don't have time to squander being my own moderator.

Mark loves to spout off about the ignore feature . Don't worry about him , don't feed him and he will eventually go away ....hopefully.

I live in Michigan, under a stay home order unless deemed essential. I'm 65 years old, and have been working a Part Time Job for mad money (to help feed my shooting interest). I have COPD. My part time job was deemed essential, when the county I live and work in detected Current COVID-19 cases, I decided it was time for me to stay home (it only took about 7 days). I let my boss know I needed to stay out of the working environment due to my COPD and feeling the COVID-19 virus could be fatal to me if i were to get it. he understands.

Ironically and for the better, the shooting ranges I belong to have canceled all shooting matches until further notice. :(

So I'm getting brass cleaned up, sized and ready for reloading. getting the reloading area reorganized and looking forward to when I can get out with the other shooters and start shooting again. :)

Oh, also thinking about family and the other shooters. Wishing them to stay healthy, many of my shooting friends are in the 60-80 yr old range. I really like them all of them and would not like this virus to claim any of them. We are just at that stage of out lifes.

On another post I learned that at current death rates in one month 2.2 million people will have died in the US. And I still have not met one infected person living in the third largest city in the US.
