HOW GOOD IS STARLINE BRASS ?

I tried it in 223. Was inconsistent compared to Lapua for me. annealed it after first firing and it did get better. I don’t think they anneal it.
That was my expieriance. If it works well for you that’s all that matters.
I'm most interested in how it holds up to hot loads but consistency is certainly a factor as well. The last I tried was disappointing in terms of pressure but it weighed and measured very good. It's been a while so I'm hoping the newer stuff holds up for me. Thanks all for the feedback. I'm just looking for alternatives, since it might be a while before Lapua is available again. I heard a year, fwiw.
I can use 220R brass but it ends up pretty short after blowing the shoulder out to Grendel length. Shoots fine and I don't see any issues with doing that as long as I stay on top of the carbon ring. I guess I can have a reamer ground for the short neck version but as soon as I do that, Lapua Grendel brass will be everywhere. Lol!

I'm another Starline user, with recent purchases in the past year, with the 6.5 Grendel and the 6.5 Creedmoor, along with 38spl, my brother also uses SL brass for his 45LC 44mag 6.5CR 6.5GRR, we have had nothing but good results with the SL brass, but we also use LAPUA and Peterson brass in our 308win and 6.5CR, rifles, Comparing the 6.5CR LRP vs the SRP cases, I get a lot more velocity from the LRP brass using WLR primers over the CCI 450mag primers, if that's a concern for you?

Starline .38 Special brass is notoriously short of published TTL by 6 to 7 grand. There is no reason for straight wall brass to be made short of TTL. Their wall thickness is the best of the best and they are sized dead nuts on. Their 45 acp brass seems to be consistently made to published TTL with the same excellent wall thickness tolerances

I shoot a lot of pistol lately and am new to the reloading game but have up graded my equipment (lab radar) to gather the information that helps you move forward, I have lots of range pick up brass (given to me by friends) keeps you shooting but not consistent. brass thickness is your enemy. Starline is set aside for serious shooting. I like this stuff!

I am wondering if there's any consensus now on how starline bottleneck cases handle high pressure. As good as the top shelf brands like Lapua, Peterson, adg, alpha?

From a comparison between Lapua and Starline in my 260AI I see nothing different as far a pressure goes with the same loads of up to 45 gr. - H-4350.

I have some in 6.5 cm SRP on the way. I'm hoping to get at least 15 reloads, using mostly moderate loads for practice and occasional warm loads for hunting

The Starline 5.56 is better than Lapua 223.
I found this on their website:

"The 5.56x45mm NATO is the military version of the .223 Remington, which is one of the most widely used centerfire cartridges today. Starline’s 5.56x45mm brass is identical to Starline’s .223 Remington brass except for a slight change in the metallurgy making it harder at the base of the case."

That's a good thing as far as primer pockets go.

It's like this. First, it's case by case. Second, it's apples to oranges unless you compare the same cases, at the same max pressures. Max pressures are largely defined by what the cases will stand.

Bottom line..If you're happy, stay with it.

The starline in 6.5cm has been stellar for me. I haven't worn out any cases, but it shoots incredibly well.

I just received some 243 in starline from Midway. The shoulders don't look awesome (a bit wavy instead of completely flat) and the neck shoulder junction angle isn't as sharp as with others like Peterson, but I'm expecting it to be just as accurate and fantastic as the 6.5cm after I get it the first firings done.

Looking to shoot 108eldm or 112 match burners with either h4350 or h1000 for hunting this year. It's a Tikka factory takeoff (22") that I'll throat out a bit with a unithroater to be able to seat the bullets further out. They're currently hitting lands with the bearing surface just dipping below the neck but not too bad. I'm hoping I'll be able to get some solid speeds with the h1000 without pushing pressure limits.
