How Far Would You Travel For Primers/Powder

How about instead, if anybody cares, or wonders how far on the kooky/desperate spectrum they have gone, ask Forum Members how far they have actually traveled to meet someone for a shooting-related deal.

I'll start. I flew (yes, my arms were tired) from OAK to STL to attend the concealed-carry course being taught by John Ross (he of 'Unintended Consequences' fame). Just to meet him, have him sign my copy of his book, and shoot his machine-guns, etc. on his private range in a rock quarry. Flew in the day the class started, returned the very next day (after the shooting session, which included a Glock 18).

On the flight back, I was sitting next to a guy and his wife who expressed interest in, and support of, the shooting sports. So, I loaned him my copy of 'Unintended Consequences', with the condition that he get it back to me. Never saw it again. Long since out of print, and kind of a collector's item. I WANT THAT BOOK BACK. (It's been 10+ years...)

You to huhhh, I loaned mine and have never seen it again. Wish I remembered who I lent it to..
 
I would have them delivery it to me and pay for the delivery fee. I could drive to pick it up anywhere in my county or nearby county.
 
Calguns is a pretty big and active website and they seem to go for $100-$125 for 1K. It looks like guys asking more than that sit on them.

If I WAS hard up this would be my limit and I would only travel local. I'm 30 miles from town so I'll say a 50 mile radius.
 
I drive 200 miles to shoot a 60 round LR match, so that distance wouldnt be out of the question for me. Luckily I learned a hard lesson the last time around and have enough supplies for several years.
 
I'm taking my rifles out of the safe(s) and filling safes w/ primers, powder brass + bullets. :).
I shoot (on occasion) 10 year old VV powder and it goes bang reliably.
Plus that unsexy RL-15 old skool stuff. bitcoin? nah, powders-n-primers.

Either one of you chaps headed to the Gulf Coast - Pensacola area any time soon? I will be happy to take you fishing for a few of those large rifle primers you got! :)

offshore! got a 20' R200... i can get you out there far enough for some Red Snapper and such.... can't promise I can get you on them though lol Only been fishing the guld now for a couple of years and still learning... but having fun fir sure.
