How effective is a muzzle break?

An extreme example would be my Armalite .50 BMG. The brake is extremely effective. To the point it kicks less than some of my .30 cal WWII rifles.

However, the muzzle blast is brutal and when laying prone I wear ski goggles! :)

I was shooting next to a guy prone shooting a .300 WM with a brake. His brake thru up a rock that knocked my glasses of and ruined a lens. I will be getting an EC brake for my .284, but be warned, if you are next to one shooting, protect yourself.

You have too keep your mouth shut as it will end up the dust, dirt and small vermin in it.

at the range, I wear Peltor ear muffs. When hunting, I wear the Peltor electronic ear muffs, and did not realize just how much deer snort wheeze, rattle their horns with other deer, and bleat. I used my rattle bag and buck grunt to kill more deer than I would have if I had not been wearing those electronic ear muffs that amplify noise.

Just bought a Savage Timberline in 7mm Rem Mag and it came with a muzzle break installed. Will it actually reduce felt recoil or just make the gun louder? Thanks group, James
Louder and reduce recoil
I prefer a Mag NA port not hard on ears or bystanders but less effective on reducing recoil but the trade off is better.
