How do you like those Boyd laminate stocks

I have a Boyd's laminate for a magnum action Rem 721 sitting in the loading room collecting dust. By any chance, do any of you folks know if I can drop a 700 BDL mag action into that stock with (some) inletting by me? Thanks

Yes sir, the 721 action will fit a 700 stock with some minor inletting. More like a little trimming really. Use sharp chisels and start at the outside and work your way in so you don't run over into the wood where you don't want to. Take care around the trigger and safety...it may hit inside where you wont see it. Use a candle to carbon black the action so you can see where you need to remove wood.
Obviously, for best results {accuracy} it will always be best if you glass bed the action into the stock once you get it to fit. Best of luck sir!!!

I'm actually the other way around, ... 721 stock, ... 700 action.

I'm gonna' try it out and see what it looks like.

Thank You Kindly!

Boltman, what color is the pro varmint? Also, how do you like the B.B Benchrest stock? Have considered ordering one and wasn't sure how I would like it.
I believe the color was called Applejack. The benchrest stock rides the bags in F-Class extremely well. I have also hade several comments on how good it looks. With my scope fairly low on the action it gives me a solid cheek weld.

Has anyone had issues with the back edge of the adjustable risers digging in to the rear of your cheek or even the ear lobe? I had this problem with my Pro Varmint stocks. Fixed that by filing/sanding down the sharp rear edge. I recently shot my new 243 I put in a Boyd's At-one stock. Cut the crap outa my cheek and ear lobe. The material for the cheek riser is an over molded rubber. Kinda sticky and has a sharp edge. I sent Boyds an email. Their final answer was "nobody else has had that issue" and "maybe you could use some mole skin". Could be me on account of neck issues. Any others have this issue?

No but I sanded down the sharp edges on the AT One pistol grip, Way too much of a corner where my thumb rests for my liking.

Over the years I have had three Boyd's stocks. Two for Savage rifle and one for a Rem 700, all have been drop ins with no fitting needed. In fact when I got the one for the 700 I bolted it in and shot 20 rounds before I had it glass bedded. The same loads shot tighter groups after it was bedded by about 1/8" but the accuracy with the stock as it came was very good.
