Laminate stocks?

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like wood stocks, especially the look of laminate stocks.

Is there really an accuracy lag between a laminate stock and a synthetic/fiberglass?

I guess my question would really be between a glass bedded Laminate stock, and a aluminum pillar block bedded synthetic...

I have a 700PSS .300WM that doesn't shoot as well at 100-200yrds as my laminate Savage 12 BVSS .223rem WITH NO BEDDING AT ALL. Granted, the Savage shoots incredibly well straight out of the box (0.05MOA is my best, 0.2 is average 100yrd with this rifle).

I haven't seen an accuracy lag in the laminates, but I also don't see very many at the local clubs (I'm not much of a competition shooter... yet...)

Take a look at the "Gun of teh Week" section, page down to the "Hoover's Rifles" in 6.5-284, read the article, look at the photo and decide if laminates lag behind.

I have a 6x47 Lapua in a laminate stock an a 223AI in a synethic stock and see no difference in either I've shot them both in competition. So my answer would have to be no as well.

+7 on there being no difference, as long as the stock is bedded correctly and action is tightened to specs everything will be fine. I have read on this site that the LR shooters seem to prefer Laminate, while BR shooters like composites. I have both and like the Laminate for an overall better feel. YMMV.

22XC, thats a good link! Thanks for the info. ;)

The composit stock would probably be lighter than a Laminated. If you're shooting comp and you're trying to make a weight for a class, that would be the only consideration. I think it would be easier to add or subract weight with a Laminated than a composit stock?
