How Do You Know if a Vortex Golden Eagle is "HD"?

I have looked online in every conceivable place and cannot find any indication on the box or the scope itself that shows the "HD" notation. Are all GE's HD? And have they always been HD? My recollection is that they came out with the HD version after complaints that the image became dark in the higher mags.

I don't know if they changed the glass but all scopes get darker as the power goes up. The big joke to me is we would be for better off with straight 50 or 60 power target scopes. More light, better image, less moving parts, but let some smart company come out with one and then listen to the "experts" bash it.

Good on you man. You are the only guy without a smart ass comment. Thanks for operating in the spirit of the forum.

This is a strange place sometimes. I thought the purpose here was to ask questions and share knowledge.
And what was smart ass about my comment? But since you brought it up, if folks with questions(I am not referring to this question) would phrase there questions with a little more thought and narrowing of paramaters it would me much easier to give an accurate answer. Guy with a 30/30 who inherited a reloading outfit asks what is the best primer. Different answer than if the guy asked what would be the best primer to use in my new 6br I want to shoot in IBS short range. I know a lot of experience shooters who will no longer pass on their knowledge and the reasons I hear are 2. First, that question was answered 3 times last week. Secondly, I see the same guys asking questions over and over that with s little effort and a trip to the range they could learn by doing a bit of work. So here is a perfect example, dogdude is a good guy and he made the phone call for someone else. He is not the one who should have made a call. The defense rests.

You need a hug? :D

A wise man once told me that if look around the room and don’t know who the asshole is, then it’s probably you.

No, to answer your question. I am not the one who decided to defend a question that an adult should have been able to figure how to find the answer for. I think it representative of our current society. Don't put out any effort, ask someone else. I view it as mental welfare. Why should I figure it out, I will ask others. Maybe it is what you do so you support it.Now if someone said I tried this and that but I can't figure it out, that deserves some help. That person put in some effort. I think maybe I stepped on the toes of someone needing a tug, and that is not the OP.

My main F-Class scope is a March 48x52. And the attributes you listed are the reasons I went with it.

Did you read what he wrote? He said he looked and researched. Hell if I know. If you applied your logic to every post on this forum there would not be a forum. Damn, I’ve asked questions before. I’ve probably asked here several times because it’s quicker than calling the manufacturer or scrolling through the internet for hours just to get questionable information instead of getting good information from the tons of great people here. I clicked on it because I too was curious! Should asking questions here always be the last resort? I do agree there’s plenty wrong with society but I guess I don’t see how it relates in this case. This forum is my escape from the society you’re talking about. Let’s keep this society a happy one. Or, scroll past things........

So why comment at all if you don't like the question. What have you accomplished if you rant and make negative comments about someone's question.

If you don't like the question being asked, go to the next thread. Does it make you feel good to criticize others. Maybe it makes you feel superior which usually means you have problems and need an ego boost.

It never hurts to be polite. Let those without sin throw the first stone.

I always felt this forum is more like the fellas sitting around the fire pit having a chat sharing information and surly giving one another the business or even a prank occasionally rather than snapping at each other.

Maybe that's gone......
what used to be constructive give and take has morphed into confrontational surliness. And to me, a direct result of everything that has happened this last year

Not trying to steal this thread but wouldn't it be nice if SWFA made a 40 or 50 fixed power SS scope for under $400. :) If I recall they only go to 20.

Oh, and I think you ladies need to stop blowing each other's skirts up too. :D

See what you started Martin.

It sure doesn't take a rocket scientist or do a lot of research to get on the web site and click on GE. and it comes up HD right after the name. it has been the same since they came out. Why are the dark at higher power? 60 power and a 52 mm objective.....They rock solid, sure beats a bright one that won't hold point of aim and cost twice as much...... jim
