I see 7 Sherman Short (7 saum) brass is made by the excellent ADG folks and wanted to know how I could make this into 7/300wsm

the brass is on sale right now also and it does not come with 40 shoulder, states it need
S to be fire formed....

is this possible?

Can I just fire form?

after studying the reamer prints, the +.200 body mark is .009 difference along (is this too much to fire form) with the shoulder at 30 vs 35 and then trim to length?

Looking for a way into ADG brass instead of Norma

The Sherman Short takes 7SAUM brass and pushes the shoulder back "about" 80-90 thousandths. This makes for a L-O-N-G neck. However, the Sherman then TRIMS the neck back to about 40 thousandths longer than a SAUM. This makes it somewhere in the vicinity of 50 thousandths shorter than the untouched neck. So if you were to fireform it in a 7mm / .300 WSM, it would be VERY, VERY short! ADDITIONALLY, the "original" SAUM brass is considerably shorter than the WSM brass to begin with. This is a LOSING proposition! Either go with a 7 SAUM, or 7 WSM>>>>or if you like "fiddlin'", a 7mm Sherman Short..

yes, you nailed it, i called Rich today and he told me the same, what i could only try would be the MAX cases, but they are 2.025 vs wsm at 2.090 (my trim length) and the neck length of the sherman at .311 vs wsm at .294.......he said the body size wouldnt be a problem its getting the case length to stretch .065 ish....

i didnt realize the max case is original saum length....i learned something today and have to consider this for next move

was also told sherman short 73,xx gr H2O, sherman max 77.4 gr h2O and my wsm case are 79.2 gr H20.....i am losing the efficiency battle....

I have a dying bbl and new bbl in the safe for 7/300wsm and I have 6.5 rsaum anyway, so i might order a few sherman's while on sale anyway

or, i could just shoot lower pressure nodes and not so much case trimming to do on the norma brass...:)
