How can you tell a fake Leupold from a real one?????

Lots of talk about fake Leupolds from overseas. How can you ensure the one you are buying from a private party/ EBAY/ garage sale/ etc. is the real deal?

Tom

Tom I've bought a few and sold a few...... If buying I ask for the serial # and call Leupold to verify takes about 5 min to do..... If I'm selling one you will always see the Ser# clearly in one of the pics.
If they won't provide the # I don't even consider purchasing.

The knock offs I've saw so far have all had a serial # that had no letter in it. If I remember correctly all true leupolds will have a letter either in the beginning or end of the serial #.

That will tell the year.

Drop it a few times ;) they have a great warenty. I am being sarcastic of course.

Seriously i would look through there catalog amd make sure it matches one in there. You can probably get a serial number off it and call them to varify it.
