Vortex scopes tell me about them

Can someone tell me about the vortex scopes. Mostly for hunting. Say in the 3-9/ 4-14 range? Whats your opinions on them would you buy one of these over say a sightron or leupold. Which sightron or leupolds would they compare to the sII or vx2. Just looking for some opinions.

Like many scope manufacturers, Vortex makes different product lines, from mediocre to excellent.

Google "vortex reviews", and you'll get as many opinions as you want. 8)

I have two Vortex Viper scopes on my rifles. I'm very happy with both.
As mentioned, each brand has products from excellent to junk.
I've looked at the Sightrons and would put the Vortex right along side of them.
Vortex warranty made the difference for me. It's a no B.S. warranty. You break it, they don't care....it gets fixed, for life.

I have had several vortex scopes from the viper series to razor. Obviously the razor was the best, it's glass is comparable to bushnell dmr 3.5-21 and swfa ss5-20. It should have been better considering it cost 600 more. It was pretty bulky and heavy, ended up trading it for another dmr. I have had to send back 3 6-24 pst, yeah they fixed them but they had problems new out of the box. My buddy's 338lm destroyed a pst in under 35 rds. So far my best vortex scopes have been 4-16 viper hs( had 2) and viper 6.5-20 (also had 2). Vortex warranty is great but.... i got to wonder how much the scopes really cost. They pretty well just give u a new scope when u send in a broke one. Seems that if a 800 dollar pst cost 600 to make they would go bankrupt replacing them with new scopes when they break.

My viper pst ffp 4-16 has been great. So has my viper 4-12. You will always hear people say the big magnums destroy scopes. Their warrenty is great and they offer a lot more for the money then leupold. Perfect example is the front focal plane reticles and side paralax on more models. Clarity wise I say their on par with similar priced leupolds. From my experience the vortex has more precise adjustments. Comparing a vxiii to a viper pst. Others may have different results.

LEUPOLD and Sightron are scope manufactures ;) Vortex is a sales company :o Their sales marketing is much more impressive than their scopes :( You pay for cheap, you get cheap ;D

I owned a PST....the only reason I sold it was so I could get my SIII 10-50. The only reason I switched was so I would have a dedicated high magnification scope for my competition build....no more trying to hav one scope/rifle for everything for me

I will be replacing the PST with a Vortex Viper HS-T on my hunting rifle

The glass was as good or better, to my eyes, than any Leupold I've used, and the adjustments tracked much better than the Leupolds I used. Leupold makes great scopes, but saying they are far superior to Vortex just hasn't proven itself in my experience
