Bayou Rifles will hold another Introduction to Competition and Wind Reading Clinic on March 3rd, 2018 at its Juliff range. We last did this in 2014 and we had over 50 people come to the event.
The morning session will be at the 300 yard range. This session will cover all aspects of an NRA prone match and there will be seasoned competition shooters firing at targets. We will go through the BRI safety briefing and explain each item and its purpose. Then the MD will start the "match" with the designated shooters. We will cycle the attendees through the firing line where they can watch the shooters close up, learn about scoring and the duties to be performed as scorers and then they will cycle to the pits to learn about pulling targets. In fact, they will be pulling the targets for the shooters. We will then end the "match" and break for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will assemble at the 1000 yard firing line for some lectures about conditions and wind reading. Then we will break into smaller groups and congregate around the designated shooters and practice wind calls and analysis in real time. The attendees will not be pulling targets in the afternoon, everyone will be on the line to learn. Attendees will be expected to participate in making wind calls.
This session is open to all and more information will be posted shortly at the BRI website. I'm posting here as a heads up for people to mark the date. The cost is expected to be the same as last time, $50. Each attendee will get a binder replete with information about competition, wind reading and equipment.
The attendees will NOT be shooting during that event, only designated shooters will be firing. That said, the next day, Sunday, March 4th is the monthly Bayou Rifles 1000 yard match and anyone is welcome. We will have people on hand to help you get on target if needed.
I will update this as we get information posted at the website.
