Hornady's new 6.5 prc your thoughs??

Does it fit inna short action and a 10 round mag? No
Does lapua offer brass? No
There ya go. Ha!
Does your 6.5-284 fit in a SA? If so, what overall length are you loading and which bullet are you using?
The Lapua brass is a big plus and I agree with that. I believe a single stack magazine can work with either but the PRC is trickier.
The PRC will never be as popular as your 6.5-284. It was introduced years earlier and is a fine cartridge. Finally, I am not trying to change anyone's mind, just reporting what my results are.

My thoughts on it is I don't need it. I have 6.5 Grendel on the low end 6.5x55 in the middle and 264 Win mag on the top end. I think I about have the .264s covered.

You have the 6.5mm covered, no doubt about it. Do you use your 264 Win for target or hunting?

I’d like to neck it to .257, shoot Blackjacks, and then call Alpha everyday until they agreed to make brass for me.

I am curious. There seems to be a large number of 6.5 variants. Why don't people try the old 6.5-55 Swede? This is a tried and true cartridge and still in Europe and Aus. and NZ it is a common Bench Rest cartridge. Even the original M96 Mauser built in Sweden is still considered a fine, accurate rifle.
And, cases are available here and in Europe. As is loaded ammunition.

I did a quicky simulation and with 147gr ELD-M ahead of 44 gr of RL-16 ( also a Swedish powder!) it flew at just about 3000 fps with what QL thinks is high pressure but not compared to popular BR and F Class rounds. And I didn't change the QL picks for seating depths.

Sounds pretty good to me. I have been threatening to make my next BR barrel a 6.5-55!

The Swede is fantastic! See another thread...6.5 SMK and 6.5 x 284...update, you will see very capable shooters with improved versions...6.5 GWI and 6.5 BJAI. Right now my Swede runs the 150 SMK at 2740 with very good accuracy. It runs the 140 Hybrid with excellent accuracy! I'm still working with the 6.5 x 284 to get the same accuracy as the Swede. I did get promising data recently with 284 and the 150 bullet! Finally! Dont mean to highjack...This does not pertain to the PRC which is also an awsome cartridge!
