I believe that is the huge question from a lot of shooters. Personally I don't believe their testing is anywhere close to being the best method as you say the "most accurate shooters" use. They cannot tell me the likes of Jack Neary, Bart Sauter, Erik Cortina, Speedy Gonzalas etc. is doing it wrong. If Team Hornady really has all this stuff nailed down with statistically relevent testing, how come the most accurate shooters don't use use their load techniques, bullets, dies, or other loading equipment?
They are wrong. They’re fudds and have been doing it wrong all this time.I believe that is the huge question from a lot of shooters. LOL. Right. Well at least the Hornady guys can feel better about their test knowing all those guys have just been hitting a lucky streak with their testing all these years. They are wrong. They’re fudds and have been doing it wrong all this time.
They just keep getting lucky somehow. Over and over again. Pure luck. Barrel after barrel. Luck.
They don't make any 20cal bushings.Their bushing dies are actually really nice.
Bc'z and I drink a little Rye from time to time. The Hornady podcasts,Pick ya poison
As far as I understand, they said that hanging a muzzle device on barrel does change the dispersion but moving it a few tenths of an inch by threading it in and out does not.Miles argued that you can tune your load by swapping out muzzle devices until you find the one that shoots your load the best. Strange, since he previously argued that barrel tuners (adjustable muzzle devices) don't work!
1:03:59 Miles- "...that is another final tune that you can play with when you get get all your load development done to the best of what you you get. Uh if you're still curious you know, maybe I could improve that a little bit, I'd like that to be a little better, you can swap muzzle devices and you might be surprised. You got a good chance of seeing distinct dispersion profiles tied to muzzle devices. The gas gun from last year was much more sensitive to it, um, and so the bolt gun it's not a huge change but you can definitely tell different muzzle devices, suppressors, different brakes. Um yeah so the one I'm running is the one that shot the best."
Hornadys podcast is just marketing plain and simple. They are not interested in actual scientific tests. They are interested in consumer engagement and brand awareness. They will do analytics off the podcast engagement and determine if it is worth the investment. These are not hobbiests, they are selling products even if indirectly.I know their engineer posts on Snipershide. Not sure about Jayden or the PR guy.
I do appreciate Hornady putting out podcasts. Even if many here don't agree, they do at least raise discussions and can be thought provoking.
I just wish Hornady would put out white papers showing their research to back up their assertions from their podcasts. If you are not willing to show your work, your conclusions are questionable.
I believe you are correct.Hornadys podcast is just marketing plain and simple. They are not interested in actual scientific tests. They are interested in consumer engagement and brand awareness. I think they should be more diligent in how and what they test with. If they are going to the extent of testing why not give it their best shot instead of mediocre testing.I don’t think we should get down on Hornady. They are providing customer service with these videos, it’s still a win for the shooting sports.
