up to 88 grs bullet weight I like IMR4064...mikeinct
what was a good starting charge ? i have been trying to locate hornady data online but have not had much luck. i have imr 4350 loads made up i am starting with 40gr and working up slowly with hornady brass and cci large primers

My 243 Win has shown a preference for IMR 4350 with the 75 grain vmax and other bullets for that matter. Hornady shows a max charge of 38.9 gr of IMR 4064; 46.1 of IMR 4831; 39.3 of RL15; and 46.7 of H4350 with the 75 grain Vmax. As always, work up to those max loads.

PM me an email or phone number and I'll send you a picture of Honadys data from their manual.

thanks Gary i will try some of these and see what happens. i have imr4350 under the 75 vmax's now i have 20 made up 44.0gr,44.2,44.5,44.7 and made 5 up with a 45.0gr charge should be a good starting point

Please be careful with any of these loads..We have over the past 15 years find wide variance in accuracy & repetability In all the 243W loads..The barrels burn out pretty quickly [the best one using 37.6grs 1in ten twist went bad at 1000shots]w IMR4064 but we have had a couple of real hummers using that powder & the 88Gr Berger bullet..powder charge has ranged from just under 35grains to just over 37grs I hope that helps. mikeinct

i am going to take my time with it no rush. i am taking every steps possible to ensure safety first. any loads i have tried have all been starting charge rates. safety with reloading and firearms is my biggest concern. for the imr4064 i was going to start at 36.0gr and work up from that. the imr4350 i have set at 44.0gr but i might consider a lighter starting charge

Badger you might want to only load 3 charges at each level for the first tests..say 35.3 35.6 35.9 36.2 36.5 Like that, only uses 15 shots..It is not to be cheap but the faster powders [if you do find the really sweet load] can degrade a barrel pretty quickly..Hope that helps..Mike
