Yes.When they first came out didn’t Hornady say that red rag was to wipe the lube off the new bullet or something to that effect?
Kind of like the ELD-M and about every other bullet out there for that matter but you ask ten different people and you're likely to get ten different answers. The A-Tip is an interesting one because typically what you hear is claims they expand much to rapidly while others bitch about how they didn't expand.Do the A Tips perform like ELD-M bullets on game ? Price isn't much of a factor for hunting bullets. I know they are match bullets but the ELDMs with 2200-2300 fps impact velocities have been excellent game bullets for me in the 6.5 and .308 calibers.
It's easy for me. I know the ELDM can't have a super high impact velocity or they'll grenade. It's why I have a number I prefer regardless of the range. 1800-2300 is ideal so where I shoot and at the range I shoot, impact velocities are 2300fps. Just curious how the aluminum tip works in this process ? Probably the same I'd guess.Kind of like the ELD-M and about every other bullet out there for that matter but you ask ten different people and you're likely to get ten different answers. I've talked to guys that absolutely love them and others that hate them. Which one is right who knows but I do know one thing for certain there is no "one" bullet that will make everyone happy because regardless of who makes it or what type of construction it is there will always be those that bitch and complain about it.
One theory I have on it is I wonder if that aluminum tip being much more substantial and harder then a plastic tip, when it hits bone, it drives back through the bullet more aggressively then a plastic one causing expansion to be more rapid. It may have absolutely nothing to do with it but it's one thought I've had.Just curious how the aluminum tip works in this process
Actually it's a Red bag with Hornady on it...When they first came out didn’t Hornady say that red rag was to wipe the lube off the new bullet or something to that effect?
Do the bullets feel like they need to be wiped off?Actually it's a Red bag with Hornady on it...
Just checked on the Hornady site, they say it's a polishing bag because they have not been washed..Actually it's a Red bag with Hornady on it...
No clue,I have not touched one yet, but I will tomorrow morning........Do the bullets feel like they need to be wiped off?

Nothing about what to use or anything helpful at all....
Sure don't seem to be anything that I can see or feel....Do the bullets feel like they need to be wiped off?
Probably just a marketing gimmick to start with then.Sure don't seem to be anything that I can see or feel....
It’s not. Some have more than others. It’s there if needed.Probably just a marketing gimmick to start with then.
