Hornady 25 caliber 138 grain A-tip...

They are pretty and expensive.
Thought about trying some in my 25 saum imp. also.
Hard to justify the almost twice the cost per bullet.
They would have to shoot REALLY small.
The few times I've tried A-tips they work great or not good.
Since they are a long bullet and like some jump, need a long freebore.

I’ve had good luck with them in other calibers, please let us know how it goes. They certainly are pricey but the packaging is hard to beat. I didn’t even know they offered a 25 cal A tip, I also have a 25 Saum improved but it’s not throated for those long dudes.

Do the A Tips perform like ELD-M bullets on game ? Price isn't much of a factor for hunting bullets. I know they are match bullets but the ELDMs with 2200-2300 fps impact velocities have been excellent game bullets for me in the 6.5 and .308 calibers.

Kind of like the ELD-M and about every other bullet out there for that matter but you ask ten different people and you're likely to get ten different answers. The A-Tip is an interesting one because typically what you hear is claims they expand much to rapidly while others bitch about how they didn't expand.

I've talked to guys that absolutely love them and others that hate them. Which one is right who knows but I do know one thing for certain there is no "one" bullet that will make everyone happy because regardless of who makes it or what type of construction it is there will always be those that bitch and complain about it.

It's easy for me. I know the ELDM can't have a super high impact velocity or they'll grenade. It's why I have a number I prefer regardless of the range. 1800-2300 is ideal so where I shoot and at the range I shoot, impact velocities are 2300fps. Just curious how the aluminum tip works in this process ? Probably the same I'd guess.

One theory I have on it is I wonder if that aluminum tip being much more substantial and harder then a plastic tip, when it hits bone, it drives back through the bullet more aggressively then a plastic one causing expansion to be more rapid. It may have absolutely nothing to do with it but it's one thought I've had.

Bullets can sometimes do things that are hard to figure out. The Berger 75gr VLD I've shot a ton of in a 22-6mm is like that for me. I either get softball size holes with internals liquified and no exit or I get caliber size entry with golf ball size exit on coyotes and it doesn't seem to matter the distance because I've had them perform the same regardless of the distance. They shoot extremely well in that gun and consistently kill coyotes dead so I don't really care and I keep using them.
