Hornady 17 hornet...

Has anyone started to play with this new round? It's great that it can be reloaded, and it's said to be very accurate. What are your experiences so far?

i saw this the other night on the sportsman channel. ive been wondering for a while why the 17 fireball has been swept under the rug. i would think it would be easier to use the rimless case.. (maybe it because it was Remington's idea...think 17 rem...) anyways, i think the 17 hornet is a nice little cartridge. i live in a liberal state, and we don't get that much ammo selection out here so i don't know about ammo availability, but being able to reload it is a really good thing it has going for it. it would be steller in a lever action...

The Mdl 25 centerfire Hornets are now being shipped to dealers . There were reports by some customers having problems with the magazine and also some bolts worked hard. CZ and Ruger are expected to start delivering their rifles early in 2013. Hornady has improved the hornet case with less body taper some what like the improved K Hornet case. I have had reloading data from Hornady for their 20 and 25 V Max bullet for some time. The case head spaces on the rim and Hornady only has full size reloading dies for sale. I am a 17 caliber fan and have the 17 HM2, 17 HMR, 17 Fireball, and 17 Rem rifles. With a Max 10 Gr load of Lil Gun power with the 20 Gr bullet the 17 Hornet should have a low muzzle blast and recoil. That would be ideal for spring prairie dog pup shooting when there are a lot of shots within 225 yards. I m going to try out a CZ 17 Hornet rifle when they are available . But to be a good prairie dog rifle it must put five bullets into a 1/2 inch group at 100 yards.

I've had a Savage 25 (synthetic) for about a month. Did have a few ejection issues @ first but mine, unlike some others', seemed to have worked themselves out after some use. Last time I shot it, it seemed to group well w/factory ammo, but only after a cold-barrel first shot "semi-flyer", and several fouling rounds after cleaning.
