Hornady 17 cal. 17 gr. Vmax Rejects ?

I purchased a couple bags of these at an estate auction.
I checked the diameters of some, and they appear as stated. The weights varied, and this is why I suspect they were sold as rejects.
I already weigh sorted them.
Any one have experience with these ?
Thanks in advance !
I plan to feed these to my 17 Fireballs.

Man that’s a score. AFAIK Hornady only sold those 2nds very early in the 17 HMR production. A large portion was snapped up by a guy in Nebraska who lives near the factory and is buddies with some Hornady employees.

H4198. 17 Rem and my 17/223 Tommy Mc

A couple of buddies who were shooting ground squirrels in MT bought a bunch of these and they said the bless shot as well as any other they used.
IIRC, these were destined for 17HMR ammo until they were culled out by the inspectors at Hornady.

2nd on the H4198. It is the best powder I have for lots of loads, a nice burn rate and pressure curve under SAMMI max pressures makes it nearly perfect especially in barrels longer than 24" with lite bullets. My $0.02.

I bought a bulk butter tub full of them about 15 years ago. Most of them got shot in my 17AH's using 4 grn of N310. I switched to the 20 grain Vmax for the full on loads.

I loaded a few, Hard to get get the stem down enough on my Redding seater.
Good thing I have an RCBS die.

I'm going to try Accurate 2230, and some H4198.
It will be awhile before I hit the range .
