I remember a few years ago when powder and primers were scarce. So, when it became available again I started buying 8 lb jugs and keeping at least two thousand primers of the sizes I use on the shelf. Glad I did. There is no telling when this will end. Couple that with the fact that the election will soon be upon us and there is no telling when this stuff will become plentiful again. I don't want to be caught with my pants down again.

You actually can get Saltpeter out of poo. Google it! Then you need sulfur and charcoal. It's not that hard. I made my first batch of black powder when I was 12. My mother bought me saltpeter at the drugstore, tho.
I wasn't very successful making gun cotton.

A typical combat load out is about 240 rounds of 5.56. In the old days of 30-06/308 and the M1/M14 it was 88/100 rounds plus 96/120 in two bandoleers. So, based on that I have enough for about a platoon. Then I’d have to dip into my match ammo.

Just sort of having fun - starting with nitric acid - the TP is the cellulose ingredient - but not as good as pure cotton.

Saltpeter=potassium nitrate, sold commercially and available at Lowe’s as Spectricide brand stump remover. My son and I build sugar motors for homemade model rockets with the stuff.

Sulphur is available at feed stores as pelletized snake repellent.

My daughter was here for dinner on Friday. I sent her home with 700 rounds of .223. I've got too much of it laying around here. some years ago, I shot a lot of .223 in my AR's. Don't shoot them much anymore though. I started collecting range brass and loading them when I had nothing else to do. You wouldn't believe me if I told you how many I have sitting on the shelf. I was buying bullets 6,000 at a time. Of course I shot a lot too. Three of my children are shooters and I guess they will have a ball when I kick off.

Aw, You don't think a world medical crisis is a good enough excuse? Neither does my wife! Once she gets an idea in her head, she won't let it go. Heck! By the time we're ready to leave, I,'ll have to travel armed just to get thru the road blocks. I "heard" they're thinking of shutting down the interstate highways. I talked to a girl at the Western wear store, today. Her sister is traveling from Ohio to come stay with their father, who's dying of old age. The sister reported going thru checkpoints at the Ohio border. Kentucky just closed all restaurants except Drive thru. Told the wifey. She says "We'll just pack food." I said they might close the motels, too. She says " They can't do that. " ... So I may be driving for four days, sleeping in the car, eating cold Chili from a can with a grumpy wife and two dogs that have to pee every 2 hours while getting stopped and interrogated at every State border. This woman is going to kill me yet!
I am staying as positive as I can tho. I bought myself a new pair of Luchese boots today for my birthday tommorrow. Figured I deserved them before my wife gets me killed! I'm a 63 year old smoker. A trip like that will weaken my reserves! If I catch the bug then, it might just kill me. Sorry, it's late and I'm tired. Maybe my imagination is getting the better of me!

Stay home. Dont get vulnerable out on the road. As long as that trip is things change real quick. You may not even be able to get gas. Be sure you come thru arkansas incase you need something- ill take care of it border to border. Got alot of traps out there yet to run
