Honing the Neck in Sizing Die

1/4”, reduce the size of it a little then lap. Just as recommended above.

Edit: The 6mm mentioned above is .23622” so it would have plenty of room to expand to your dimensions.

Thanks for the response. I placed my order yesterday and opted for the 7/32 as I was leery of modifying a lap. I wish I had added the larger size to the order now. The 6mm would be ideal.

In theory the 7/32 will expand to 0.2516”. Will it actually? I can’t say because I haven’t tried it. Let us know once you get it.

The 7/32 did work, in fact it worked too well. In spite of measuring often with the .246 gauge, I over did it by .001. My target of .246 ended up at .247. With spring back it makes the Starline brass with a .013 neck thickness at .248 without expanding. Still very usable for this application.

The 7/32 was bulged a lot with the very center of the bulge doing the work. I would buy the 6mm next time as it would have a longer working surface.
