Honing a neck sizing die

I asked this question in the advanced engineering section also, but looking for as much information as possible. I am in the process of building a 6BR on a remingotn 700 action. I am chambering it with a .272 neck. I was wondering what diameter the die should be honed to. I will be using Lapua brass with no turning and Berger 105 VLD bullets. I do not have brass at this time to see what my loaded diameter is so I figured I'd ask around. Thanks in advance. Tim

You have to include springback. I like a 6BR die with the neck honed to .267 or .266. I don't think a .268 will give you enough tension because of the springback.

Why not buy a bushing neck die and go from there?? seems like to me that would work better as you could get whatever size bushing ya needed..Just my .002 worth..

I have honed out a few dies myself, and I would rather pay Forster $10.

I have had the better part of a dozen dies neck honed out on Forster's Hardinge collet lathes.

I would warn you that a bushing die will not pass a pin gauge of it's size and a Forster hone job will.

What does it all mean?
Order the hone job from Forster .001" tighter than your bushing die lead you to want.
