hold your joystick

1 - Do you have contact with your front rest joystick when you pull the trigger?
2 - What joystick front rest do you have?
ty Don.
Yes, always.
And I do it with my bald eagle big 50 with a Shadetree top, my 21st century hybrid, and brand new Neo-X.

I think if you can position your arm under a towel or straight on the ground while firing then holding on to to the joystick is not an issue. However, if you are a joystick holder that hovers your arm above the ground, then holding on to the stick may not be the answer.

I use a Joypod. I’ve found that I am more consistent when I hold it. But when holding it I do so in a manner where it’s very light pressure not a full grasp usually just resting between two fingers while my hand is touching the ground

Which one is your favorite and your main rest?
The rest I have consistently shot the best off of is the bald eagle big fifty with a Shadetree top, with the 21st century hybrid rest being a very close second. My girlfriend always shoots her best off of the 21st century hybrid rest. We just got the Neo X and have each only shot off of it once. Still learning it, but the first thing I noticed is how little pressure it takes to move the stick. I plan to increase the force in both directions equally by adjusting the screws a tad.

He offers several different lengths and they can all easily be cut down. Mine is way shorter than it came but he sent two different lengths. Big reason is belly BR takes a lot longer stick than from a bench for most anyone...fwiw.

Here's a Pic of the one I use right now. As you can see, the extension is only about 3 inches long, roughly. That length works for me from a bench, well. The other thing you'll notice is the knob is not what Rod sends and he's right in being adamant that even the weight of the knob does affect the balance. I accept that and I don't feel like it's enough different to be detrimental, at least not how I have my rest adjusted. Fwiw, I did lighten that knob a whole lot, so it's pretty light but it's not as light as what he sends. Still testing but the logic is to simply steer a lot with my wrist with this knob is all, and I prefer the feel, personally. OAL of my handle is about 12 inches...fwiw.

I made my own stick to suit my reach as sitting on the bench. Mine is
stiffer then what Rod ships. My personal build chassis rifle is sitting
right at 22 lbs. Lots of changing up and tweeking, on my end. Even
has my own 4" top, and my custom 3" swivel feet with non skid rubber
bottoms......I just can never leave things alone......LOL

Low Nines ?? I fiddled with adjusters on the back and went
back to a heavy sand bag. I know guy's swear by them softer
bags but in my heavier guns, it was squatting on the fore end.
The stick itself, once I'm on, I still hold it but very lightly. The
T-Rex's have a long stick with extra mechanical leverage. It does
feel light.....
no.. not low 9 nines. just 9 nines..

cuz i caught the shift in the mirage and was able to make a change in my hold.. it saved me.. i me.. i was in the process of making the shot.. it was just enough.. to catch the ten
Ahh....gotcha and I can see that. Probably same as me keeping a hold on it if I'm running. I thought you meant you were seeing the rest drop etc.

oh know.. the rest never moves.. and it moves easy.. something like over the SEB.. i have had several of those.. never again.. so easy to flip from one side of the bull to the other.. and we're trying to stack 5 on top of each other in each bull

Looks good to me..what I can see anyway. I made a few small changes too but nothing big or expensive. I think I spent more on shipping and extra parts than the parts I used to modify it to suit me better.

I'm curious too...why would you wanna try a copper handle? I mean...he suggested I not use a different knob that MIGHT add a half ounce. You're talking POUNDS! It only takes a few ounces to move my rest handle/stick.

oh and i don't hold way off like some others do.. i dial in on the condition and shoot it
I see a couple of sighters that are wayyyy out there...in the 1 ring.. is why I asked. I'll hold off but not that much, if I can help it. I assume you were dialed in, now. I see now. Good target.
