Hogdon 4350 or Varget ?

I have decided to get a substantial supply of either Varget or H4350 "NOT" BOTH!

However I am posting this because I will be using both a Dasher and 6 x 47Lapua and would like the opinions of the forum as to witch powder to go with. The 6 x 47Lapua will be the predominantly used cartridge (Maybe/probably)

Accuracy and velocity, that is the name of this game, with velocity (of enough magnitude) to be interesting!

Witch will fulfil the demands of both cartridge cases in superb fashion with bullets from 87gr to 108gr with a 1/8 twist 26 inch barrel?

I'm sure their will be those that don't want to adhere to what I’ve said/asked, to you all I can say is this was also designed as how well you read and understand questions.

That's a tough decision because they both usually like something different. The 6x47L's generally like H4350 and the Dashers like Varget. If I was to pick one, I would say Varget just because I haven't heard of many guys running H4350 in Dashers unless it is a 22 Dasher. But guys do run Varget in both with great success. I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't load up on both, just split the initial difference.....

I would go with the H4350 I think it would work well in that cartridge and shooters are finding out it works well in a Dasher and I suspect it would probably work in a straight 6BR with proper bullet and neck tension :D

I can read and understand questions just fine. It's the spelling that throws me off. It is Which, not Witch. As for the question, H4350 has worked superb by first hand experience.

It's a pure PITA sir that you didn't understand my spelling being bad. However you can go back and tell your friend who started this whole thing, to contact the Moderator and complain as he did before that I spelled some word wrong.
I'm sure he will be very interested in your complaint, and reviewing your "corrections to my spelling"!
Have a nice day!

Thanks tclaunch, sorry for the late reply. Thank you for the honest information on the powder question, that makes good sense !

I've been looking all over the Internet/hoarders for the last several days without any reasonable prices. I would really like to get a keg but not at $$$$ plus, NO! As long as people keep paying the asking price things will just go higher and higher, very stupid!

Any way, I appreciate honest people, thank you.

PS, you can add H4350 to that list.

I believe you guys when you say Varget ! I spent all of yesterday trying to find it somewhere other than the scalpers that had it to no avail. I'm just going t put things on hold till powder is available.
The powder availability is pure BS, I know it, you know it, and the scalpers know it.
Please don't forget t companies that helped and those that didn't!!!!!!!!

Changeling,do not know if this helps, but was in a store in Hot Springs,Ar. Saturday and they had plenty of Varget and H 4350 in stock.Seems like it was $28.95 per #.It is high but save a hazmat fee if you only need a couple #'s.

4350 Seems to be gaining ground in the Dasher crowd lately. A friend just switched to it from Varget on the advice of a poster here, Wes Cummings, and had really good luck right out of the gate. I don't have enough barrel life left to play with a new powder right now, but I'm definitely going to give it a try when I put on a new tube. I'm hoping that the slower and cooler combustion will add some barrel life.

I don't know if you are near a Sportsman's Warehouse or not but call them and ask what powders they have available. I have one about 50 miles from me and I call weekely to see what they got in.They keep their powder inventory on a clipboard in the gun department in Colorado Springs.Maybe the other stores do something similar.

I use IMR-4350 in my 6x47L and it loves it with 108 Bergers. I left my chrono at home today but will to some testing tomorrow weather permitting of course.

Not trying to get off the topic, but where in the hell is this honey hole of a "substantial amount" of either?!?! I demand answers changling! ;)

Hi Potato. I wish I knew. I have found it (H4350) at $210.00/$240.00 (8lb jug) but I am just not going to pay that much even if I don't get it! . The above prices didn't include hazmat or shipping.

Cabela's had H4350 as of yesterday (1lb-$30.00) if that interests you.
I heard they weren’t going to sell any more 8lb jugs, not sure if it's true or not. Supposedly it's there way of seeing that more people are able to at least get a little.

The guys I know around here quit buying when it went past $200.00 for any and all powders. The problem is people keep buying it driving the price up more and more. If they would just stop for a while prices would fall and plenty would be available !
