I was whispering. I had a #1 in 45/70 and sold it because of the recoil or my age. You pick.

I love to shoot the old 45/70, but the recoil was a bit much. Reduced loads helped but then 4198 became scarce. I’m saving it for my 30brs so I looked for a solution and bought a Marlin lever in 44 Magnum. I liked it so much, I bought the Rossi in 45 Colt. I am having a ball with them! Heavy loads use between 20 to 24 grains of A#9, which is easy to find. I’m getting 15 to 1700 FPS with a 250 grain bullet . Lite load shooting turns them into BB gun recoil. Plated bullets are cheap and I can load 10 to 12 in the tube magazine. Take my word for it, these little big bores are a ton of fun!

ok you know i am a bit slow to put it mildly.. well those ruger #3s were lighter than a #1 and they really walloped a person. mabie thats wat happened to me those pistol cartridge levers do sound good.

Just picked up 8# of H322 and (4) 1# H4895 from my LGS. $625 pre tax. I'm not complaining about a thing. Buy it when you can, put it on a shelf. It won't lose value.
