Hodgdon Acquires Ramshot and Accurate powders.

You know it matters not who distributes it isn't going to speed up the flow of powder to us the consumers.

I don't care who owns what . Who distributes what , or to whom . As long as they leave my Accurate 4350 alone . Don't change the "mix" ! Don't change the "anything" . It ain't broke ! Don't fix it ! Don't "Re-imagine it" ! Just keep selling it . The way it is .:D:D:D

I thought I have read in the past that some powders are the same, like ramshot x-terminator and accurate 2230. There may be other examples. I wonder if the they would do away with one of them.

There seems to have been a degree of switching around between manufacturers (mainly Belgian P B Clermont v US St. Marks) with Western, presumably depending on their ability to supply.

We have a 'Europe only' Ramshot grade in the UK called 'Wild Boar' with its own data-sets available online.

.... an excellent powder which is a bit slower burning than Tac.

Compare the website contents for individual cartridges to Accurate-2520 in the Accurate powders data equivalent, and not only are the charges identical, but so is everything else - case, bullets, pressures, MVs generated etc suggesting very strongly it is one and the same product.

'Wild Boar' definitely comes to us from Belgium (the supply link is direct not via the US) and I've always assumed the American 'Accurate' version likewise, but various AS Forum members say that their supplies over the last year or two definitely originate in St. Marks. Given similar performance and charge weights between various powder grades from different makers these days, it seems the distribution / retail end of the chain will sometimes indulge in substitutions should there be shortages. If so, you might find that a carefully worked-up load doesn't perform as before after starting a new powder lot despite what it says on the label.

Well ya might want to think about that. What if a class action suit is brought by well funded liberals to shut down Hodgdon for "vicarious liability"... their powders are responsible for gun violence and deaths.

curious who owns Vista Outdoors ?
They are a C corporation listed on the NYSE under symbol VSTO. Looks like they just bought Remington’s ammo business out of bankruptcy. Not sure of their major share owners

The questions was asked earlier about pucker factor / risk factor on a ship full of powder en route from Australia. My understanding is that powder is shipped in big vats that contain powder and water, and that this renders the powder unable to ignite during transoceanic crossing. Once on our shore, the powder is run through special driers to remove the water. I believe a big part of the shortage the last go-round was the limited capacity of domestic powder drying equipment. Plenty of wet powder in vats, not enough through-put in the driers.

I'd be interested to know if others have heard the same.

I know they store it under water it would make sense to ship it underwater too
