Hoarding reloading supplies?

He yall. Just wondering what your thoughts are on hoarding supplies? With all this nonsense going on for many years. I havent bough much in years. But i remember prob 8-10 years ago the first time 22s got scarce where i lived. Was just looking today and saw nosler has gone to 50 count packs for bts of some bullets. So im out of the loop. And talks of 20% increases 2x a year nonsense.

Im not sure how much is being hoarded. It makes sense that since there is such a shortage people will buy all they can the rare times they can get it. Of coarse there are the scalpers out there trying to get all they can so they can make a buck. I have a few components and Im trying to shoot them up as fast as i can. Its taking more time than i thought. when i get that done if more components are readily available ill get some, if not I wont be shooting anymore. For now and foreseeable future Im not buying anything, so Im not part of the problem.

You know how the mainstream media periodically floats a news story of some ne'er-do-well? How the police discovered an "arsenal" when they searched the fellow's car or home?

You know how you laugh and shake your head when you see that story on the tube? Because the pitiful collection of guns and ammo that the news people are so breathless about is so laughably incomplete?

Yeah.

There's no such thing as "hoarding."

There's just people who are prepared and thoughtful and kinda keep an eye on the world around them.

And those who aren't, and don't.

Not me... every and I mean everytime I have a new barrel planned I buy enough powder that I need to burn it out, all at one time. I don't care if people think or call it hoarding, I call it smart.

Here's an example. I know I'm ordering another 6br barrel in June. I have primers and bullets. I need brass which I'm going to use 300 pieces of Peterson. I know I need 16lbs. of powder which I will get soon, I already know where to purchase within driving distance to me. Hoarding no, smart yes.

People who run out of components and can't find what they need/want are constantly mocked on the internet for not being prepared. They are told that this is at least the 3rd shortage of components and that they obviously didn't learn a lesson.

Do I think people are buying more components than they ever did before - yup.

Same here. I don't think it will stop until the prices go much higher. When an 8# jug is ~$500, you probably won't find everyone trying to buy Varget just because a batch was released. Unfortunately, at that price, a lot of people who aren't hoarding will have already been pushed out.

Everyone should have enough supplies to last through 2 administration's, yet still purchase when finding a deal or something you've been wanting to try.

Please leave me 150 pieces of that Peterson in stock. Lol
I don't get paid till Friday

It's only hoarding when someone else has it and the writer doesn't. This has happened several times over the years since Clinton was in office. It happened a couple of times when Barry Soetoro occupied the White House, became somewhat relieved through the Trump Presidency and then gained a full head of steam into Biden's term. Lately I've seen bullets being fairly plentiful, some powder (not a lot) but primers are as scarce as truthful politicians.

I don't focus on or care how much money, land, or material items another man has which includes shooting supplies. I focus on what I have, what I can obtain, and what I can accomplish with it. If something isn't available I make do and move on. Anything else is simply a waste of ones time to b*tch and moan.

Best statement on this thread.
And on how to live.

Interesting. Here's what I find in American Heritage https://ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=hoarding
1. A temporary wooden fence around a building or structure under construction or repair.
2. often hoardings An overhanging wooden structure temporarily mounted atop the walls of a fortification to aid in repelling attackers. Also called brattice.
3. Chiefly British A billboard.

Two maybe three years ago sportsman warehouse had primers on shelf and on sale.
The shelf was stocked and a cart full of cases as well in front. I stocked up as I was getting into reloading and glad I took friends advice as now I have enough for my needs.
I don’t sell my stuff but I have traded or given some to friend that needed something.
I’m not going around store to store but have been fortunate enough to be there as they had them.
I would buy a brick and even left them there for next guy as well
I paid like $27 for federal gold metal match primers and Remingtons were as low as $20 on sale per 1k.
Can’t we just go back to three years ago

I had a conversation with a kid in Texas that I’ll share. He was whining about how he couldn’t find ammo for his gun and if he found some, it was “too expensive”. I mentioned that he should have bought a bunch years ago when it was cheaper and available. He said he “never thought it would get this bad” and “he had other stuff to buy with his money”.
We were standing next to his almost new truck outfitted with fancy aftermarket rims, big tires and brush bar. He had the latest new iPhone clipped to his belt and was wearing a $600 pair of boots.
Some people still plan ahead, some people don’t.
Financial discipline seems to be a thing of the past. A lot of people these days can’t control their impulses, spend their money on frivolous things, then complain about what they can’t afford.
