High quality break down cleaning rod?

Hi all,
I am looking for a high-quality, collapsible or sectioned cleaning rod. I know the inherent problems with this type of rod, but I still need one, so want to find a good one. I will be traveling overseas to shoot this winter, and need to bring a cleaning rod. I need a 40" rod (not including the handle) to clear my barrel and bore guide, and I need it to fit inside a 38" case. My current rod is 48" total length, sonit will not work. I'm not a fan of boresnakes for this application. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Erik

I don't prefer a cable cleaning kit. I would much rather have a stainless steel sectioned kit over a cable. The reason is that the cable is covered in a plastic coating that can have hard carbon particles embedded. You have to use a good muzzle protection system any time you pull from the muzzle. I prefer pushing a solid rod from the breech. I don't own any sectioned rods but the syainless has to be better than the cheep aluminum rods.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, will look into them.

I've got 4 months before I leave, so keep them coming!

I normally never use a segmented rod but there are times when you travel you need to do something. I went with the Pro-Shot and by golly its not to bad. I still only use it for emergencies when I travel in the field away from home.

I would never use a breakdown rod for normal cleaning. Too much chance of creating a problem from the section joint.

When I need to clean and don't have a one-piece rod, I use a pull-through like a bore snake. You just have to keep them clean which isn't a problem for the rare times that you need to use them.

Dumb question....does the handle on your rod screw off? Also, I fit a rod 4" longer than the case by setting it at an angle.

Dumb question.
How much does a sectioned rod bend while using a boreguide with inset such as a Lucas, while being centered with a patch or brush on the other end?
Can you polish up the ferrules to get a smooth mating surface?
