High Master TR F Class

Well today was a good day. I got my High Master Card in the mail today for Mid Range F Class. I shot TR with a 308 and off a Harris Bipod using a simple sand sock for the rear. It was not easy but it shows it can be done.. I hope you all had a great day as well.. Reaching goals keeps us moving forward.

Congrats Steve well earned..with all those crossfire’s hehehe:D You definitely earned it now you can come out Sunday and try the cowboy lever action stuff out with me.

There is but a small handful of shooters who have made High Master, SHOOTING F-T/R, at long range. I doubt there is a dozen of them! It is a tough row to hoe! Congrats on your card at Mid-Range! Now set your sights on making High Master at Long Range and join the elite group that has made High Master at long range ONLY shooting F-T/R! Job well done!
By-the-way, I took the easy way by going at it from F-Open! I believe I would still be trying to make High Master had I started and stayed at F-T/R!

If I was going to be in the area longer I would... I had a lot of fun shooting with you guys.

In 2019 I should be shooting LR in Montana and maybe in the Dakotas as well. I will be using the same set up as well.
If that fails I will try open.

Congrats on achieving HM. Competition has been getting tough in TR and you have been in the thick of it for sure. Going to miss having you at matches. How much longer will you be in the area?

I am going to try to be there for April. I should make it as there is 40 inches of snow on the ground up in the Forsyth MT area.

DirtySteve, If I may, I would like to take the liberty of encouraging you to STAY in F-T/R and make High Master there. The reason: If you can do it with either a .308 or a .223, you will be A LOT better once you traverse to Open! Your wind reading will be sharpened to a fine edge, rather than relying on HIGH b.c. bullets driven at relatively high speeds to gain the edge on the wind. You will still have to read the wind>>>but it is easier than with T/R! Learn in T/R and go to Open and you will be a FORCE to be reckoned with! T-Rust me!

I am kind of hard headed. I will give it a try for 2 years before considering moving to Open. Then probably give it another year. Lol..

Congradulations!

I look forward to accomplishing that.
I am curious: According to the NRA's web site, I was moved up to Mid range master(also shooting FTR) from Marksman in early October.
How long does it take to actually receive the new classification card?

Again, congrats.

Ed,
It’s almost impossible to guess. I have gotten cards in as short as 9 days from when the score was fired, to as long as 4 months. I think NRA competitions is pretty short staffed these days, so not surprised to hear they are slower than usual. You can always call and ask.

Good luck,
Erik
