i'll put it side by side with mine as see what happens. i have heard several people complain but mine works well...so let me see one that is not working... even out my experience.
you ship to me, i'll ship back...

If you don't already have one, get an Omega trickler as well.

I throw .1 gr under with a Chargemaster 1500 and then dump into the GD-503 and trickle up while the Chargemaster is throwing the next charge. In reality, it's no slower than if I was loading with the Chargemaster because when it's done throwing the next charge, I'm ready for it.
Erik,
I have the Omega, really a great little tool.
That is exactly how I do it with the 123 but if I have the 123 set on 2 then just the vibration of the charge master sends it into a seizure and if I have it set on 4 (very unstable) then it takes forever for it to read, then when I take the pan off it usually shows .02-.04 under or over so I can't trust that throw so I have to dump powder into another pan, re-zero then put powder back into pan, 50% of the time it is still right on and 50% it isn't if it needs a kernel or two I am okay but if I have to remove a kernel or two then I have to re-way for a third time because just disturbing the scale from my tweezers removing a couple kernels screws it up?? I want it to be immediate or close to it and I want no drift and I want to put the pan back on the scale 50 times and have it read the same,...not almost the same but the same. I think the 503 will fit that bill, or at least I hope so :)
Wayne.

Very pleased with the GD. I put it on this -

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035Y7OPC/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

with .25" silicone sheet underneath the granite. I made my own granite isolator for $50. It's very stable.

Harrels culver with the omega tricler and the GD is my current set-up. I think the only thing better and faster would be a Prometheus.

Thank you Fitter, that sounds like sound advice, when my scale gets here I'll let you know how the set up works for me.

Wayne ,
You will be very pleased with the GD503 .I tried the 123 and was not at all happy with the results. I shortly turned around after purchasing the 123 and purchased the GD503 and olny wished I had done this in the beginning.

Wayne, the GD-503 feedback is immediate. It also reads the same everytime you put the pan back. You don't need granite or anything, I have mine on my reloading bench towards the back, I move it forward when I load and level it. No issues what so ever.

I have zeroed the scale on a blank piece or paper, I then scribble stuff on it, and weigh it again, and it picks up the weight of the ink! ;D

Erik,
Just what I am looking for,..should be here soon I hope,..thank you all very much for all your help.

I am trying Jim, I think it will take more than a scale to do that but it can't hurt, I at least won't be so mad all the time! I told my son this weekend, I said this is suppose to be fun and it has turned into darn hard frustrating work, something has to change and change right now with this scale business! I used to have no problem with a balance scale that was properly tuned but I am into tri focals now and it just don't cut it when trying to watch the scale line up, so it is digital for me now, and 503 not!!!!123 ;)

Sounds great and all, but I think you are right Wayne because I really don't think + /- one powder kernel can put a gun at the top of a match. If a gun isn't shooting well enough to consistently place at the top, there's probably some other issues going on. Having to rush precision handloads like you did never helps either. The reliability factor a good scale is understandable though.

No you are probably right but when your scale goes 32.5/32.9/31.8/124.9/32.0/32.1 at that point Brandon which one do you pick that it is????????? I really want to start trowing four letter words out there now!!! you got me thinking about that miserable 123 again!!! did I mention what a piece of junk the 123 is?

part of shooting well is KNOWING that all is well and it is up to you..confidence in the equipment and the shooter...
yep there is a mind game...so being confident going in is a plus...good equipment adds to that confidence...
so in his case money well spent.

Thank you Mike I appreciate that, I am going to try some tricks a friend p.m'd me about to try with the 123, I am still getting the 503 but I will try the tips and tricks he provided, I have some background in electronics and is thoughts made sense, I am also an electrician so I understand that end also,...so with that being said after I get my 503, I may take you up on your offer and let you do a side by side with yours and see if you see something I can't or didn't and I appreciate that offer also. I want to be your friend and with posts like this one you wrote it could be easy to do,..thank you.

Wayne.

That's pretty bad. I took my gempro 250 down to the shoot one time and was powering it with batteries for the first time. Couldn't get my check weight to read right, before or after calibrations. The slightest thought of a breeze that may have been coming from a mile away would throw it off too. Got it back home on the bench (controlled environment) and she was back to working perfectly again.

So in my limited experience (just that once), I quickly found that my scale gets very upset and becomes homesick if I travel with it.

Wayne, That's a good move, I watched my groups get smaller with little improvements. The 503 was a big improvement over the tuned balance beam....... jim

Wayne,

Bring your 123 to the next match, we're getting low on birds!

Tom
Tom,

That is the best idea I have heard yet!!!!,...I will paint it orange and bring it along. I probably owe everyone over there an apology, I was basically up from Wed. - Sun and my temperament wasn't the best, I tried to be cheerful but mostly the reason for no sleep at all was because of that stupid funny looking clay bird! >:( :'( I may not shoot any better with the 503 but I will be in a much better mood ;)

GD 503 will be here in 4 day's wind is blowing over 50mph so doesn't really matter I might as well get out the lee scoops LOL. Can't wait to load and be certain I am getting my desired amount of powder ;) Thanks for all your replies and help fella's.

I had some trouble with the acculab 123 when I first got it. Varying all over the place. I started by zeroing the scale with no pan on it. Then weigh the pan. Write that number down. Then add your desired charge weight to the weight of the pan. That sum is your desired total weight you want to see on the scale. Now I set my Harrell up to throw just under that desired weight and trickle up. I never leave the pan on the scale between charges. Only to trickle. Seems to have alleviated my problems. Ymmv. Also smart phones don't play well with these scales in my experience. If my android is within 7-8 feet I get erroneous readings. Hope that might be a solution to your quandary. Good luck.
