Hey AR Guys Part 2.....

Benchmark and 8208 can get 55s to shoot in many barrels. 69smks are some of the easiest to dial in as you almost never hear of difficulties getting them to shoot. I’ve even used RL15 with 55s with good results.

Johnny’s reloading bench on YouTube has a whole series on getting cheap 55s from Bob’s Bulk Bullets to shoot. It’s worth a watch if you have time.

brother, you should get better accuracy with your AR.
I have AR's that shoot .50 or less @ 100 yds.
Easily rival a bolt gun.
Honestly, my 6AR shoots way better. one hole deal. in the ones with an AR.
Point is, maybe you could rethink ammo.
I think accuracy is a factor of a well cut chamber, trued/faced bolt, a good barrel (expensive sometimes, but not always). solid ammo, and a great trigger. without all of these - it's a tough row to hoe. I like WOA + Compass Lake. But I build my own ARs. Bbls Rock Creek Krieger. JP enterprises. Wilson Combat sells a single stage AR trigger that is so freaking good. random thoughts.

I have to say, I always thought that great accuracy was exclusively the domain of bolt guns. But owning a decent AR now (not even match grade) and seeing many impressively accurate ARs, I think one must be seeking BR-grade accuracy to say there is a conclusive accuracy advantage to the bolt rifle.

Precision Rifle Blog did a test of a JP LRP-07 vs a custom Surgeon and the confidence intervals of their group sizes largely overlapped. Pretty impressive overall.

I do love the simplicity of a bolt gun and the manual operation as part of the shooting experience. Most of my shooting doesn’t even need a repeater. But if a quick and accurate follow-up is at all advantageous for your particular application, a modern semi auto is a great choice.

A lot of ARs are accurate, more so if you load for them. I came across a target from 2013, I was shooting my bolt gun load in a 16” DPMS 9 twist heavy. Sub inch at 160 yds. I just kept shooting the bolt gun load in it. 69 SMKs.
