They don't make the money in firearms, the money they make in the other areas far out weights that portion of there business.

I have only been in Dicks a few times but I saw as much gun related stuff as others. I also saw more pople in the gun section then the rest of the store combined. If these gun people stop buying all stuff because of boycotting them, it has to hurt sales more then just the gun loss. At least that's my way of thinking. Matt

Maybe in 1 or two stores of the total. Most of them are making MUCH more money in golf, shoes, and sporting goods. The outdoor stuff if minimal on the grand scheme of things. they on a large scale have gotten a huge boost in public approval after making this move. I know a few people high up in the corporate side of there company this move will end up benefitting them in the long run I would bet on it.

other than in this situation. How would you prosecute a city or state government???? The president has told them federal funding would be discontinued. Fact or just talk, I dont know. LDS

My take is simple, at 18 you can be put in harms way but Walmart and Dicks can refuse to sell you a gun till you are 21, But a rich football player can take the knee at National Anthem and the flag in disrespect and 25% of them are felons and they can buy a gun?

lets understand one thing!if you lock up the people that have mental problems that are proven to be like that shooter you would not have this.the parents must do the right thing and put these people in a postion where they are taken care of.give them their meds and if they refuse make it court ordered.

Here in Oregon you have to be 21 to purchase 3 things.
Alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana.
As in the case of the Christian baker, Dicks and Walmart will probably pay through the nose for this.
As for the 20 year old there are plenty of places here in the valley that he could have gone to purchase a firearm.
IMHO,if the person is old enough to sign a contract with the government to defend our freedoms, he or she is old enough to buy whatever firearm they desire.

Problem is, how are you going to make the people that have mental problems take their medicines. I saw this all the time before I retired. They refuse to take them and go off the deep end. Some of them want to take the medicine but cannot afford to pay for it and the government will not help them. Court can't do everything. People have to have some type of self help too. Most of them just don't give a crap. Just like the gun laws. Criminals aren't going to Walmart and Dicks to buy guns. Or any place they legally can, so, let's punish the honest citizen and make them selves feel good. I have one thing in common with the criminals, I will not be going to Walmart or Dicks either.

Folks, as a general principle of law, to prevail in any civil action you have to sustain an injury (which may be physical, emotional, financial, injury to reputation etc.). If the plaintiff can acquire the firearm readily from somebody else there really is no injury, no measurable damages. He might win the lawsuit, and his lawyer might recover attorney's fees, but the award would be meaningless.
