Here Comes Beryl!

It looks like those of us who live on the Gulf Coast are getting ready to get wet.

Hurricane Beryl will probably make official landfall down around Corpus Christi, which means we in the greater Houston area will be on the “dirty side” of the storm, where all of the rain is.

I have been through countless Hurricanes, it is a consequence of living on the Gulf Coast. The best we can hope for is it moves through quickly and does not stall on the coast and dump entire years worth of rain in a few days.

Is there a lot of rain predicted in the Lake Livingston area? Sounds like the dam has some serious structural issues and more water to discharge would not be good!

Thoughts with everyone on the Texas Gulf Coast, most of you have been thru this before and know how to prepare. Be safe and I hope your homes and businesses come thru unscathed.

Just talked to a friend near you and he said power is off but generator running great, they’re calling for 60-80 mph winds and lots of rain. Y’all stay safe!

I worked in Houston during the big flood of 2017, normally I would be excited for work (not wishing anyone harm or damage but someone has to go and write the estimates!) but now my back has quit working and I'll just ride it out on the sideline, after new knees there is no more climbing those roofs down there! so doing flood only!

I'm not sure how a storm going through the Houston area with heavy rain and 80mph winds gets overhyped. I'm glad I'm not there.
It’s 9:30 in the morning, I would say we are at the height of the storm. It is moving fast, which is great, less chance of flooding.

Power is out, but our Generac generator is running, as fast as this thing is moving, it might be over by noon.

Considering how bad this storm looked out in the open Gulf, as far as hurricanes go, this one is pretty mild as it hit the upper Gulf Coast.

because since the storm formed they have been telling , 105 million people in the path of the , "storm of the century!!!!" never before has a storm formed so early in the season! it's gonna come ashore a cat 5! Texas is flat a drop of water and it floods, just like ALL the Politian's they piss all the money away on social programs and NEVER build for bad weather. HELL 3 weeks a go or there abouts, Houston had heavy rains and it flooded, They are very dry in Texas just like else where in the west, do the idiots in charge do anything about capturing any of the water in reservoirs? No they stand there as it drains into the gulf and then bitch about no water. I sat thru a FORCE 5 TYPOON IN Okinawa in the 70's, Winds in excess of 200 mph , In a Quonset hut. Thats a storm. this was an over hyped nothing burger!

To me...it looks like parts of Texas will be with out power for a little while. Many broken power poles and in this heat that might be uncomfortable for a few days , but hey being alive is priceless.

Typhoon Bebeng

Only one I could find in the 70's, hit Taiwan & eastern China, sustained winds of 155 mph, so not sure which one you are referring to. That's quite a distance from Japan.

When NOAA says "potential for...", TV guys spout it as "it's gonna happen".

Weather guys on TV drink hype all the time and mainline it during storms. Most grownups realize that...
