All other aspects of having things at hand and efficiently done, I seem to struggle with the collet more than some of my other tools with collets on them. Some collets work FAR better than others when it comes to the brass settling in squarely. I find that a reverse 1/4 twist, then a forward twist of the brass often helps the brass settle into the collet more quickly prior to collet lockup. Seems to work pretty well for me.
