Henderson Case Trimmer - RCBS New Trimmer

The pilots start at 22 caliber and doesn't appear to have either 17 and 20 caliber pilots or trimmers for the RCBS. The RCBS response to a question about using the Henderson ones was no. Just checking to see if anyone had a different understanding or experience.

That’s my suggestion, that’s what I did back when I got mine. He could probably coach you up on the RCBS unit. If I was to guess I would say that those pilots are probably Forster or some standard commonly produced pilots.

Just get the original, from the guy who invented it and can tell you everything.

After speaking with Todd Henderson….

The cutter heads are essentially the same for the RCBS and Henderson units, but are not compatible because the shafts are different diameters.

Additional cutter heads for the RCBS will be available through RCBS, so changing the blades and pilots when swapping calibers is not completely necessary. You will be able to buy complete cutter heads for each case diameter just like you could with the Henderson.

I don’t want to put words in Todd’s mouth, but my take away is that the RCBS unit is still a Henderson, made by Henderson, using Henderson parts. It simply incorporates a few features that existing users and RCBS asked for. All at a lower price.

Stands to reason that the RCBS cutter would not be interchangeable with Henderson ones, that's just proprietary marketing practice, which is expected.

No. These are made at .001” under caliber. Just truing up the inside of the neck

What are you after with this, cutting out donuts? An alternative to turning necks?

Inside neck reaming has been around a very long time. Both LE Wilson and Forster make inside neck reaming tools. They are excruciatingly slow.
This does the same thing only much faster.
