Thinking of putting a 6" travel digital caliper body on my buddies lathe tail stock. I think that Mitutoyo has the correct scale. Seen it done in the past and I think I can machine a piece of aluminum to clamp on the ram and someway attach the scale to it. It has been done numerous times but I personally don't have a need and paid them no attention.
Any body have photos or any help?

Butch, i installed one a few years back and it has worked great! Here are a few pictures and if you need more let me know.

my one lathe doesnt have enough of the tailstock shaft sticking out of the housing after the center pops loose to be able to fasten to it. anyway i googled this once and there were lots of pics of how people have done this.

I need one of these...thanks for posting the pictures! I wouldn’t have thought about using a caliper.

I had the same issue. Every lathe I've worked on used the end of the feed screw to eject the tool. Remove it from the rear and drill and tap the end, then tighten a bolt in it. The thickness of the bolts head will determine how much sooner it ejects.

You guys are just too slick. Gets my "let's make a gizzie" itch fired up. But alas and alack, sold mill and lathe when I rehomed myself in my birth state. I always loved to fixture n jig.
