Help with a shooting rest

Hi guys! I am soon in need of a front rest and rear bag. I have shot bench shooting for a few years, but have always borrowed a relatives stuff when going... So because of that, I will say I am "newer" to BE shooting.

I would like to buy something thats pretty quality... Im a buy once kinda guy. I saw there was a sale at bullets.com... but looks like they are gone and not taking orders on anything that would be of need.

Anyway, I typically shoot 50-300 yards and it’s mostly for fun with some friends. Lots of AR bench rest and 22lr shooting... Nothing more, nothing less.

Since I am newer to this whole thing I really don’t know what the hell I am looking for to be honest. I just know I don’t really want to spend 1k plus on some of the competition stuff I’ve seen in pics around here (I lurk a lot).

Can anyone give me thoughts on an ideal setup? I need solid adjustments etc... I’ve been looking at the Sinclair heavy windage/all purpose rest, but again dont know if thats exactly whats needed/how they are.

Anyway, I am hoping some of you all can assist in giving me a little more info, some thoughts, and opinions on what an ideal choice would be.

Thanks in advance guys!

Bobby

Bald Eagle might fill your needs. Not pricey but functional enough for possibly what you want to do.

I used one for bench rest and still have it for a second rest. I have the sling shot, cast iron with windage top. Grizzly tools was selling them.

Protektor makes good rear bags at a reasonable price. I have their Doctor bag with a handle, filled with heavy sand (22 lbs.). Sinclair makes decent front rests, as does Hart. If you want a joystick top, Butch Lambert of Shade Tree Engineering makes a good one that's reasonable. Mate it with his base or somebody else's. SEB is the Cadillac of front rests, but very pricey.

The Bald Eagle products that were on Bullets.com are all now available on his other site Grizzly Industrial. However the prices took an increase.

Edgewood make great front and rear bags.. front rests depend on your budget, Farley’s and Sebs are very nice to use but Sinclair and Baldeagle do the job.. Caldwell front and rear rests are also an option and lighter on the wallet.

When I bought my BE cast iron slingshot a few years ago I thought it was the best bet for the money. I still think it is a good rest but with the price increase I've seen on Grizzly it's now in the ballpark money wise with a lot of other rests. One thing I've encountered with the cast iron BE is the 1/2"x13 (?) threads on the legs I wanted to replace the feet and ran into an issue as the threads on most feet are either 3/8"x16 or 1/2"x20. The aluminum BE's however are 3/8" x16. As to the bags I've had good luck and service with the Protektor brand.
