Help

Iam new to bench rest shooting. I have a savage model 12 6.mm right bolt left eject.

Ill be shooting 300 meters and have $900.00 to spend on a scope. Any thoughts

thanks mike

Are you planning on competing? If so, I'd look at a Leupold 35X or 45X Competition Scope. They've gone up in price over the past two years and go for $1059 or so. There are several other makers of scopes (Nightforce, Sightron) in your price range that are equally as popular. Personally I like my 35X for my short distance shooting, but a 45X would be nice at 300 meters+. I have a number of Weaver T36's ($440), but the clarity is the main difference once you get into the 35/45X price range.

Think there's a leopold in the sale section, for a fair price. I just bought a weaver T36, but I haven't shot with it yet. Plan to, this Saturday. Looks good so far though, for $300. They get great reviews. For target work, I don't like anything less than 32 power. I managed to pick up a 12-42 Night Force BR for a grand, a few years ago, and it remains my favorite. I shot 300 for a while with an 8-32 Nikon Monarch and did OK with it. Not a lot of adjustment with the 1 inch tubes. Might need a 20 Moa rail.
