Help w Redding dies

Link

Silver $$ Contributor
Redding is closed for 2 wks so here I am asking a question. The difference between a 6ppc SB B/FL and a 6ppc B/NK ? Both appear to be bushing dies. I have both and wonder why. It has been years since I have shot that rifle and I have forgotten.
thanks Don

The first is a Small Base Full Length Bushing die The other is what 22DASHER said.

Should you use a SB if you don't have to? Will it hurt anything used in a regular chamber?
Thanks guys

Remember on the bushing beveled edge face down with alittle wiggle room . See first how the case chambers then you could start with the neck die or if chambering has resistance start with the Full Length die expander stem adjusted with or without expander up too you , don't over size using the F/L die . I found the bushing less dies worked better for me , I don't neck turn my brass and I use the expander ball .

When I talked with Redding over the phone I too was told that non bushing dies would be more concentric and I understand how that would be without a bushing to move around supposedly self centering however I have very good luck with all bushing dies and use them exclusively because I turn necks and try different brass manufacturers and different neck thicknesses would require new dies it’s much cheaper and easier to swap out a bushing and as I said they work well for me always have

I liked the idea of bushing dies for neck tension , your going alittle deeper in reloading with neck turning , will correct neck thickness inconsistency and no need for expander ball . Most likely the reason it didn't work for me , do it right or don't do it at all .
Did you ever check out the Redding Competition Shellholders?

yes I would recommend them they are quick and easy to change and definitely repeatable Also my final step is an expanding mandrelThis is important as I stated in another thread when using in expanding mandrel any imperfections that would normally be on the inside against the bullet are pushed out word and you should have 3 to 4000 clearance and your chamber neck therefore they would not matter
