help. shells wont chamber properly.

My savage fcp-k will not chamber rounds properly. When you slide the bolt forward and the shell just comes out of magazine it pops up out of the gun entirely. I'm guessing the magazine spring is to strong. Does this make sense and what's the best fix? Can I compress the spring and heat it?

No adsolutely do not mess with the spring...the spring is not the problem...you need to adjust the lips of the magazine box...im guessing the front part of the magazine box is to wide and the lips need bent in ever so slightly...this will cause the magazine box to hold onto the round longer so that the cartridge enters the chamber before it is released out of the mag. box

Just remember to make very very small adjustments.. you also have to beware that bending the front area of the magazine causes the cartridge nose to be held down more...bending the rear cause the front of the cartridge to raise up. Its a balancing act if u bend to much the bolt may not even pick up the cart.

I will double check the follower. Im pretty sure its correct though. I'm not always the moat observant person but I think I would have noticed that. Will post what I find either way. Thanks again.
