help with remington sendero a guy wants to sale me a 300 wsm with a er shaw barrell can anyone tell me what I can expect I a ershaw better than factory

I have never owned an ER Shaw barrel, but I have friends that do. They claim the barrels are great. ER Shaw does not lap their barrels....... but they would be considered far better than factory barrels.
Just what I have heard.

it's just got a 23 inch barrel chambered in 300 wsm is that long enough to shoot long range

I had an ER Shaw barrel in 6mm Ackley I got for Christmas. I didn't expect a lot, and it didn't clean up super fast, BUT, and a huge but, it shot great.

Sub-moa to 1100 yards, which is as far as I shot it. Several 1 inch groups at 500 yards, in calm conditions most groups were sub moa at 1k.

Hard to believe? Yes! But it's true! The only thing I didn't like was 26 inch was the longest length offered, and it didn't clean near as easily as a higher dollar tube.

I'd go with a longer bbl. if one of the primary uses of the rifle was LR shooting. 23" isn't even quite as long as most OEM 300WSMs - most makers go with at least 24". Muzzle blast with a WSM out of a bbl. that short is going to be awfully loud. I'm sure a 23" bbl. would be handy while getting into & out of a vehicle, but otherwise, it's sure got its drawbacks where getting the most out of case capacity goes.

If you really like the gun, and are willing to spend the $ to put another barrel on it, buy it. If not, a 23" barrel on a 300WSM is far from optimal for long range. You usually use a slower powder in a longer barrel to produce max velocity, ie: use the full length of the barrel to burn powder. With a barrel that short, you will just get more muzzle blast and a huge fireball.

Most guys using the WSM for long range are probably using 26"-30" barrels to get max velocity. 23" is going to be severely lacking velocity in comparison.

This isn't to say that it won't work, it's just not ideal.
