Help selecting an action

I’ve talked the wife into buying me a action, but there are so many to choose from.

I was considering Big Horn, impact, or a defiance. If you could have any action what would you pick? I will most likely want to go with a long action due to the choices of caliber probably start off with a 7SAUM

I have rifles built on two Bighorn Origin actions. One is a short action chambered in 260 Remington. The other is a long action chambered in 300 PRC. I like the build quality and smooth operation. I have had zero problems feeding from AIC magazines or a Bob Sled.

Out of the 3 I would recommend Defiance. I have 2 and zero complaints. I do like Big Horn because you can change the bolt head from magnum to standard, I wish my Defiance could do that. If just a straight hunting rifle don’t forget about Borden action’s.

What’s your application? A lot of F class shooters seem to select Kelbly Atlas actions. Im not an F shooter but I have one I currently use for a 284 Win that I am really happy with.

I haven’t had very many Bighorns, maybe 12. I have all my old stuff that says Bighorn, because I think they are outstanding.

Now, you have to get DLC (will not sell a raw stainless, period) and despite that they just don’t seem as smooth as they did before.

I’m now using Terminus Zeus, but have nothing against a Defiance Ruckus or Deviant either.

Impacts are nice but I just don’t care for the look.

Bordens are super nice though, very slick, just don’t have any unique features (like 3 lug or CRF) that I’m aware of.

I am/was a Bighorn fan. Still have 2 TL2s,
one Pre Bighorn. I've played with the Zermatt versions, but wouldn't trade my TL2s for one. I've got a few Kelbly's and am firmly in that camp now. Best customer service in the industry. If your set on the 3 you mentioned, I would vote Impact, don't own one, but shoot with several guys who do.

there is plenty of great actions on the market and you won’t go wrong with any of them but of the three I’d go impact. I own all 3 and favor the impact. My lone peak just showed up tn and already think I prefer that feel than the other 3. Like mentioned above, the kelbly actions are fantastic and service is amazing.

single shot or a repeater ? s ingle works well in hunting, second round close at hand if required.
