Help needed -Savage bolt head change

Hello..I have a savage model 12 Lefty if it matters.
It's set up for 223rem...I want to change it up for 22arc.
Can this be done on the model 12 action?. What do I need to know about changing my bolt head and who has them available for the odd size..
Thanks

If you need it to eject, then lefty vs righty DOES matter. I believe you need a PPC bolt head.

UTube has numerous videos to watch which will help you get the steps in your mind of what to do, etc. Not hard, just need to pay attention. Midway has complete bolts at times, but not sure of the bolt head size.

Finding the right size bolt head in lefty might be an issue . I think the arc uses the same as a grendel???

This site has helped me with savage parts numerous times. I saw they had these in lefty.

Gunshack carries both the PPC/ARC bolt head and the parts to complete it.

These are fantastic people to work with. Great prices and outstanding mom and pop customer service.

I recently bought Savage trigger parts from them and was very happy. They carry a full line of Savage OEM parts.

I just got a new Factory bolt head--it did change head space so I had to 'adjust" the barrel FWIW some do some don't just don't expect it to be swap and go Gunshack folks were great

here's some basic info on savage boltheads, different years and different lengths actions used different boltheads

L to R
short action (7/16" lugs)
short action controlled round feed(1/2" lugs)
long action (1/2" lugs)
new short action heavy magnum (9/16" lugs)

also there can be an alignment cutout in the end of the shaft.

I built a 224 Valkyrie on a Savage model 12 target action and I got a new bolt head from PTG and it worked just fine.
