Help me out with which 6

I have a long action and a xlr mag fed chassis. I am building a do all hunting rig for my son. I have 243, 6xc and 6x284 reamers and 7, 7.5 and 8 twist tubes. I'm heavy on new xc brass but not sure how reliably that may feed. Anyone done an xc on a long action?

6xc should work good I have a tikka that fed well .
XLR chassis should work good also with the aics mags.
Sorry maybe no help can't tell for sure but that is the one I would go for 6xc

But the 243 would work better for someone that doesn't reload.
Explain please. Yes the 243 is available in factory ammo, but what does that have to do with anything besides factory ammo. If handholding it takes the 243 to the next level.
BTW I do have a soft spot for the 6-284, I have a few of them. If you use them for hunting learn the cold bore impacts.

That is all that was considered when i mentioned the 243 otherwise I would go with the 6xc knowing you all reload I would ask the person it's being made for.
I like my 6bra and my son likes the 7saum I made him to each there own. For hunting I like my
7-6.5x47LAI and the 120 TSX but I'm not going after elk just deer.
I don't have any experience with eather the 243 or the 6xc just like the 6xc better at this point.

Zero chance of a 6ai. We're sitting on 500pcs of xc and 300 pcs of x284 brass. I have a few 243's now but none tighter than 9tw. I bought a few thousand of the hornady 108 tap's for cheap enough that he can have a ball shooting rocks and still be able to connect on deer/elk.

I'm a bit nervous on the x284 as have a hart tubed 6.5x284 here that will not push a 140 over 2850 without extreme pressure no matter what I feed it and a pair of 260ai's that will hit 2900 with several powders and no real signs of trouble. This is my first 6.5x284 but it's disappointing after a bunch of 260ai's that scoot along accurately on less powder.

Yea the old 260AI will surprise you with speeds and show nothing at all that looks like pressure. That coupled with the fact that virtually no trimming has to be done are reasons why it ranks high with me. Probably my all time favorite.

I have a couple 6XC’s and use them in R700 LA with no ill side effects. They feed just fine. I’ve run 103 gr -115 gr with no issues. You have the XC brass go with it or look for some other excuse to go with something different. You can never have enough of anything except trouble. Good Luck on Your Search.
