Help me figure out what the 338 engels was made from

Looking for any information on this elusive cartridge. I am researching it for a friend.

Whats the headstamp on the brass? Do you have a pic of a case?

There is a you tube video on it. Looks to be a 338/06 with the
shoulder blown forward......

At this point I have nothing but the you tuber shot a 338/06 in it and the neck was way too short. I wonder what cartridge holds the same basic shape as the 06 but longer?

Goggle it and you will find that the 30-06 and even the 270 case is slightly shorter for this cartridge. Seems it was formed with a European case the 9.3x 74R, but the rim & grove had to be turned some to fit the 30-06 bolt face. Not a lot of info on it, as the use of the original case was work and also not so well known, at the time, in the USA as compared to Europe.

Had to do some extra digging on the Euro wild cats. came across
Sako's 9.3x66. It's real close.
