Help me dressup a stock

My new stock came in from Lisa at Sharp Shooters Supply. It is a MBR 1000 yard stock. Much to my surprise it is a 100% drop in. No changes had to be made, with the exception of a little shorter front action screw.

Here is the problem with the new stock... It is desert tan..It looks awfully bland and I like gaudy stocks.

What can I do to dress this plane Jane looking stock up?

Decals, paint????

Chuck

Al Nyhus posted a picture a while back of a stock done in a snake skin design. I think it was a decal type of thing. I thought it looked pretty good.

Cossabarr,
Good to hear from you.
I am going to try to shoot Butner. Have to get something to be taken care of first. Who close to us will airbrush my stock?

Why weren't you at the 1000 x 5 at ORSA--- Or River Bend???

Chuck

:thumb: I have spent $600 on a custom paint job,see Badlands ) and
on my newest I spent $7.00 for some Lethal Threat decals that I put
on the gray primer. Maybe next year I might have the new gun painted,
but I have been spending too much on Motels and gas going to 1,000
Yard Shoots in Iowa and Ohio. If you wait until next year to have your
gun painted it will be like getting a new gun again:cool: Lethal Threat
has some very durable decals to choose from and they are weather
proof. Fred Moreo's brother could also paint it for a reasonable price.
Lot of ways to go. Good Shooting, Badlands

Lethal Threat rocks.... Great American Flag/eagle decals

Thanks for the tip.

I need more ideas guys,,,,,,

Help Chuck Pimp his Stock... I really have quite a bit of red-neck in me, It's a family trait..... I LOVE American Flags

Chuck

Pimp My Stock, it will be a great show.

Why don't some of you post some pictures of your stocks so I can get some ideas.

Dave you and I might be working out some of these issues with our therapist for a long long time...

Chuck

Here are some that I like. The first is on a Barnard action and the second one is a Bat.

Kav,
That American Flag stock is the most beautiful stock I have ever seen.
Are you still painting stocks??

Chuck

You like that one.. you ought to see one I did for a customer on the USA Palma Team... I wish I had the time to do one like that for myself.

Pretty much only taking work from Stiller Precision... I finished my degree and took a job in a lab that, though not the greatest pay, pays a heck of a lot better than breathing paint fumes all day and with working full time it takes me too long to finish a stock if I book too much work. Also, as of today I will find out if I am being selected to become a United States Navy Medical Entomologist. Maybe they will let me custom paint/personalize some missiles if accepted? Take care.

Kav,
Good luck on getting your new bug chasing job.
A good friend of mine is a bug chaser with the Army in Iraq as we speak..

Where did you learn to paint like that?
You need to do a how to little article for us.

I grew up in my Dad's shop and learned the old fasioned way... he started me sweeping floors, then strip and prep, and finally let me spray my first car and started teaching me how to lay out graphics etc. I then took everything he taught me and worked with several folks around the country and screwing up a lot and starting over. After I painted a stock for Ron Prachyll and Speedy it grew to a point I didn't have time to work on bikes and cars any longer. But, swore once I finished my degree I would not paint as much for the money ain't all that great and it is pretty tough on you unless you are using a fresh air system.

If I ever pull the time together I may get in touch with the Mods here and put together a short how to on stock prep...but in painting really the best way to learn is under someone who has been at it a while. I believe Mr. Ricklefs has a good run through on the steps. Take care
