Help Me Determine What This Is - Bore Photo

I wouldn’t bother. JB won’t help that. I bought a new Brux one time. I scoped it after I had it chambered. It had maybe 20 or 30 cavities like that. I got very worried and almost sent it back. Instead, I shot it. It shoots pretty good for my needs so I’m happy. Send a scope down a Savage, sometime....
those are expensive barrels. I guess that blows the hand lapped barrel con all to hell

fouling?? looks like ragged chards of steel to me. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. been around long enough to see sometimes you don't get what you pay for
If you take the time to read this thread, you'll find that the op was able to remove this "defect" with normal cleaning practices.

There's a learning curve to bore-scopes, to what actually is carbon layer. Seen pictures posted often that are showing layers that have yet to be removed. Often see what some consider fire-cracking or pitting, that is actually cracking of stubborn layer and/or deposits, not yet cleaned out.
One implication: if the steel looks discolored in any area or spot, it is more likely hard layer and not steel your seeing.
