Help me decide 284 or 7 saum

I have brass ,dies and reamers for both and lots of 180 hybreds. My barrel is Kreiger 8.75 twist 32 inch 1.350 straight.I am now shooting the 284 very accurate and easy to tune.

I know several guys who went with the 7 Saum and have returned to the 284. Or have gone to a 284 shehane.

That is a hard one! I love them both! I suppose it would depend on what my other guns. At the moment running 300WSM's and a couple bigger guns I would probably do a .284 just to have a standard face bolt and something smaller. If I had more small guns then a 7SAUM.
I found my .284 a little easier to tune than the SAUM but neither where bad.

Both are great . 800-1200rounds RSAUM you can run 3000 with 180 hybrids. Little advantage in heavy winds but to me its not worth the short barrel life. 284 as you know is very accurate and 2000-2200 rounds is the norm for barrel life. So if you have the money for barrels go for Saum .

Own and shoot both in competition. I say 284. Easier to tune and the rsaum seems a bit harsh for only 100 fps typical advantage. 284 is just plain fun to shoot in a 22# rifle. With a 32" barrel I can easily get the 284 up to 2900 fps, with 7827ssc. More often I am shooting the 284 closer to 2840 with the 180's.

those 180gr hybrids just love that 2820-2890 fps window.

284 Shehane with a 32" barrel will do that quite easily and you will do it with less pressures, hopefully resulting in better brass life.

The 284 Win will do it all day long as well.

My vote...the 284 Win or 284 Shehane.

My Long range BR heavy gun is a straight 284 WIN.

I get excellant accuracy with both 162 A-MAX and 180 Berger Hybrids. 'Course the A-MAX is way cheaper. The straight 284 is easier on cases and barrels yes, on shoulders too. I haven't got to the point when I need just 50 -100 FPS more! I have remarkably found some of my barrels, 6mm and 7mm, actually are more accurate at 100fps SLOWER! And, they all have wind drift, you just have to allow correctly for it.
