Search for a product called Cap Plugs. I use these but they are not designed for use on a firearm. They are also difficult to find.

Get on Ebay and search for: vinyl pipe end cap

They are about a buck each and have different sizes available

Be careful. If youre using them on an assembled rifle thats very dangerous. Use the orange ones if you must but preferrably use nothing just be careful

Drugstores sell new "feet " for crutches. Marine and hardware stores sell different size rubber feet for deck chairs.

If using the drug store brand or any brand really , it would be prudent to drill a small vent hole , just incase you forget to remove it . It will vent gasses .

When I install a barrel I turn a section of the muzzle to .752". Got to Lowes and get 3/4" chair leg protectors. Insert over muzzle. In an emergency you can just shoot it off. I have take tumbles on mountain mike and muzzle hits pavement or dirt, no problem.

+1 I don't have the barrel turned to fit them, but these come in several diameters, and have been using them for a long time now.

McMaster-carr p/n 6448k35. Qty 10 for $6.64 then shipping. Just a thought. I use them for thread protectors, they are soft and pliable.

I mildly disagree. You want the air pressure ahead of the projectile to pop it off before the projectile arrives. It's a form of tampion.

To each his own I leave them on sometimes for years and doubt they would shoot off , air compresses . I mean it would probably shoot off when the bullet hit it .

You won't be able to use it again either! ! ! ! They split wide open. I carry a 7.5 Swiss M1911 out walking in the morning in case I run up on a coyote, snake or undesirable. If I have time I will pull the cap off but if he is me ant like 25 yards I will center him up and give him the good new. The ones I get are like 3.00 for four of them and they are black and very tough. I have used the cap plugs as well.

I also bought a bunch of gov't surp muzzle covers for the bird cage. I three with cages.
