barrel crown

What is the best crown for a barrel in your opinion. I will be putting a crown on a rifle soon and would like to know. I here that some shooters are using sharp crowns that can be easily damaged. Why not a 11 degree crown into a 60 degree chamfer.

B:
Most Benchrest Shooters have tried various crown designs, and found that there is no measurable difference on the target in any of them. There are a lot of theories about crowns, but I have personally taken my Rail Gun, and tried a flat crown, an 11 degree crown, and a recessed crown. Could not tell any difference.
The main considerations in a crown is that it be square, and burr free.
Of course, for Rifles that, for what ever reason, could suffer damage due to miss handling, then some sort of recessed crown would be in order. The same rules, however, still hold that it should be truly square and burr free......jackie

I much prefer finishing the crown whether it be flat, recessed or on an angle, with a piloted 60 degree chamfer.

I like the crown cut exactly at 180 degrees as in a Floor board crown, flush right to the edge with no breaking that edge of the cut.
Lots of protection provided that way and they seem to shoot as good as any, even the infamous 11 degree target crown....
No matter what the shape is, it needs to be 100% dialed off the bore to be as good as it gets..
